Cruise Vacations
For life on the Ocean Wave, a trip for those who like to
keep on the move in style
Many people still believe that cruise vacations are for the older holidaymakers of this world. How wrong could they be? Perceptions of the Cruising industry are changing for the better and the reason for this is down to the excellent variety of cruises now on offer to the traveller.
Whilst cruises used to be predominantly in the Caribbean and the Mediterranean, now you can find trips to Antarctica, the Indian Ocean and the South Seas. The choice of trip is growing all the time. Ships are more like floating resorts nowadays and cater for all needs that the tourist might have, from top class accommodation to a huge choice of restaurants and services.
Due to the competition in the genre, prices are dropping and a cruise vacation is not necessarily out of your price range like a lot of people seem to think. Budget cruise liners are starting to get popular now as well, with companies offering cruises with no frills just like the budget airline boom of a few years ago.
One of the most popular reasons for taking a cruise rather than going on a regular vacation is the fact that you can take in many sights on one trip, instead of having to take multiple holidays to fit in all of the sights. In fact some of the stops on a lot of the Cruise itineraries are not really easily accessible for vacations and the tourist infrastructure of the area is catered especially for cruise vacationers. This is particularly true on many of the Caribbean Islands.
Whilst the typical cruise destinations of the Caribbean and the Mediterranean attract thousands of passengers (and rightly so), more adventurous itineraries are also very fashionable. Some of the trips on offer are in regions that are difficult or expensive to traverse by land or air and the cruise offers an easier way to visit the highlights. Alaska is a perfect example of this type of cruise, with itineraries taking in many of the yet unspoiled sights of the state and without the hassle of a long bus journey or expensive and weather affected flights. In fact Alaska is probably one of the most ideal cruise vacations, just as much as the Caribbean itineraries.
There are so many destinations in this wonderful World of ours that it would be impossible to see everything, the great thing about cruises is that you can see many destinations in one trip. Though you must remember that cruises are not for everyone, a lot of people like to take more time exploring the places they visit and having to stick to a tight schedule is not for them. Some stops on cruise itineraries have an overnight stay, though not many will do. For instance if you are planning to take a cruise in the Mediterranean and are really looking forward to seeing the sights of Rome, remember that you will be limited to a few hours before you will have to get back to the ship. Think! Is this really for you? It is perfect for taking a relaxing stroll around, but you will not find enough time to do some serious sightseeing. Basically you just need to weigh up the pro’s and cons of the cruise against a vacation to just one destination.
Thanks and Enjoy
