Hiking - Where in the world... to go

A look at the various locations around the world for Hikers

There is nothing more invigorating than Hiking past beautiful coastlines or through valleys amongst majestic mountains in some of the world’s most amazing landscapes. There are some stunning places on this planet where hikers could spend anything from a few days to many months enjoying the pristine views, fresh air and fantastic wildlife. From desert to rainforest, Mountains to plains there is every type of landscape thinkable and many very accessible to the traveller.

This article is focussing on just some examples of hiking destinations and you should not forget that these examples are just a drop in the ocean and there are plenty more out there just waiting to be discovered.

There are many travel companies out there which offer guided and unguided vacations, so you have the option of going with a tour company if you so wish. Many Hikers wish to build there own itinerary and this can be an exciting way to plan your vacation.

Many places throughout the world are accessible to walkers and they vary in difficulty ratings. For instance a trip walking around the Black forest in Germany is going to be fairly easy in comparison with hikes in the Karakoram, Pakistan. When deciding on your next hiking vacation, you must remember to take into consideration your experience and fitness levels. It would be no good lying to yourself either, as it will come back to haunt you, not anyone else!

If you are a beginner then you can start with a few trips to easier hikes and work your way up as your fitness and experience levels increase. Just because the hike is rated less difficult, does not mean that it is any less beautiful or enjoyable. Some of my favourite walks have been easy jaunts along the New England coastline.

You must remember when visiting these places to go prepared with the correct equipment, maps and also to make sure someone always knows where you are and where you expect to be each night fall. This is for your own safety as well as making sure the local rescue teams are in the know. This article is not to be considered as a guide to the walk, just a taster of what is available. Nothing could replace a good map and Hiking guidebook.

So grab your gear, jump in and enjoy some of the most beautiful walking destinations in the world!
