Booby Cay is located just offshore from Long Bay and is around 2.5 hectares in size; there is a beach at the southern edge. Perfect for birdwatchers, as the Booby birds use this little Isle as a breeding ground. It is also a popular spot for picnics and swimming, there are snorkeling and diving opportunities amongst the pretty coral reefs. Boat trips to the Islands can be obtained from the majority of the Negril hotels.

 

Bloody Bay is the most northerly bay and is located at the end of seven-mile beach. Bloody Bay gets its name from the days when whalers who slaughtered their prey in the waters and caused them to turn blood red. It has a crescent shaped beach – with a bar for snacks and beverages. Trips on glass bottomed boats can be taken from Bloody Bay.

 

The Rhodes Hall Plantation is located around 5 miles from Negril and is a small private working plantation. Horseback riding from beginners to experienced are catered for, with various tours that last from half an hour to two hours and include riding through forests of banana and coconut palms and along a beach to Crocodile River. The luxuriant tropical jungles feature remarkable stands of ancient bamboo and many types of trees and other rainforest vegetation making it a bird watchers delight.

Dive sites at Negril include:

 

The Arch: This site is suitable for Intermediate divers and is a drift dive. Swim through coral arch, marine life includes Queen Angelfish, high bats, and spotted drums. Black bar soldier fish and well camouflaged scorpion fish. The highlight near the end of the dive is a small Cessna airplane. Depths are from55’ to 70’.

 

Coral Gardens: This site is suitable for beginner divers and is known as ‘The Classroom, it is a popular site for resort course/certification. There is an assortment of marine life and for certified divers, the dive master will take you to the edge of the reef, where you can drop down to 65' and follow the irregular reef edge where there is a variety of coral formations. Depths are from 30'-40' / 30'-65'.

 

Shark’s Reef: This site is suitable for Intermediate to advanced divers. Drop down over the sloping edge to numerous small shallow caves where nurse sharks often sleep. Depths are from 40’ to 60’.

 

The Throne Room: This site is suitable for Intermediate divers. Follow corals, sponges to split in reef. Dive through opening for underwater window which opens onto sandy bottom (65'). Mouth of cave framed with colourful sponges, corals. Sponge formation shaped like a throne. Depths are from 40’ to 65’.+
